Dubai Health is rolling out a major clean energy initiative across 26 healthcare facilities as part of its drive to boost sustainability.
The project includes the installation of solar rooftop and carport systems with a combined capacity of more than 14 megawatts, supporting cleaner operations while maintaining high standards of patient care.
The initiative is being delivered in partnership with energy solutions provider Positive Zero.
In the first year alone, solar generation at the first 13 sites is expected to produce nearly 10,700 megawatt‑hours of clean electricity.
Over the full term of the agreement, it will cut an estimated 167,000 metric tonnes of carbon emissions — equivalent to planting around 4.3 million trees.
The solar carports will also provide nearly 3,000 shaded parking spaces for patients, visitors and staff, making it the largest solar car park project within the UAE healthcare sector once completed.
Positive Zero will also deliver a series of efficiency measures at Al Jalila Children’s Hospital, including its first Cooling-as-a-Service (CaaS) project, supporting the UAE Demand Side Management Programme and Dubai Demand Side Management Strategy 2030.
This initiative is expected to provide energy savings of up to 15 per cent and prevent more than 9,500 tonnes of carbon emissions over the project lifecycle.
