In an effort to boost road safety during Ramadan, Dubai Police has distributed nearly 120,000 Iftar meals to motorists in the first ten days of the holy month.
The initiative, part of the 'Ramadan Without Accidents' campaign, aims to reduce traffic incidents during the pre-Iftar rush by encouraging drivers to break their fast safely and avoid the pressure to speed.
The General Department of Traffic, in collaboration with several key partners, had 230 volunteers on hand to distribute meals at key intersections across Dubai before the Maghreb prayer.
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic, said that the moments before Iftar are among the most dangerous on the roads.
Drivers, eager to reach their destinations, often speed or make reckless maneuvers, increasing the risk of accidents.
Al Mazrouei urged drivers to remain patient, plan their trips in advance, and respect traffic laws, reminding them that "arriving late but safe is always better than not arriving at all."
