Dubai Police have impounded 218 vehicles and issued 518 fines for noise violations in October as part of a crackdown on illegal modifications that create disturbances in residential areas.
Violators will face AED2,000 in fines and 12 traffic points, while illegal modifications without a licence carry fines of AED1,000 and 12 traffic points and 30-day vehicle impoundment. In addition, there is a fee of AED10,000 to release the vehicle.
Apart from field enforcement teams, officers also used specialised smart devices to carry out the inspections.
Dubai Police warned against deliberately revving engines to produce loud sounds or exploiting public roads and residential areas for showmanship. They added that strict legal measures will be taken against violators without leniency or exception.
Drivers have been reminded to follow traffic laws and the public urged to report violators via "Police Eye" service on the Dubai Police app, or by dialling 901.
