Dubai Police have urged parents to monitor the social media usage of their children when it comes to videos encouraging and promoting the excessive consumption of energy drinks.
The Cybercrime Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation of Dubai Police have stressed that some digital content is designed purely to attract views and engagement, with no regard for the serious health and behavioural consequences.
They have also addressed the health issues that often are linked to energy drinks, including severe complications such as heart rhythm disorders, convulsions, loss of consciousness, and even the risk of sudden cardiac arrest.
It was further noted that children may experience a range of adverse health effects, such as poisoning, stomach disorders, heightened anxiety, tension and irritability, impaired concentration, memory and sleep, as well as rapid heartbeat and high blood pressure.
It has also been encouraged to report any digital content that encourages dangerous behaviour or threatens the safety of community members through the Dubai Police smart app, the E-Crime platform dedicated to receiving cybercrime reports, or by calling 901.
