Dubai’s private education sector is moving ahead with a confident return to in-person learning across schools, early childhood centres and higher education institutions, from Monday, April 20.
The gradual resumption follows strict health and safety guidelines set by authorities, with more than 200 early childhood centres already welcoming children back from April 16.
In total, nearly 600 private education institutions are preparing to provide safe and supportive environments for students and staff, with oversight from the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).
The KHDA's Director General Aisha Miran says student and staff wellbeing remains the top priority, adding that close coordination with schools and stakeholders is helping ensure a smooth and confident return to classrooms.
She also praised the support of UAE leadership, as well as frontline teams, noting the education sector’s strong adaptability and collaboration during this period.
In recent weeks, the KHDA has carried out extensive consultations, readiness checks and staff training across the sector, focusing on safety procedures, emergency planning and clear communication with parents.
Schools are required to ensure all staff are fully prepared before reopening, with authorities continuing inspections to confirm compliance.
As students return, institutions will also run age-appropriate sessions in the first week to support wellbeing, safety awareness and a smooth transition back to campus life.
Families are being offered flexible learning options, including in-person classes or phased returns, while distance learning remains available for those unable to attend.
Officials say the approach is designed to maintain high education standards, while supporting both student wellbeing and teacher workloads.
