Dubai has begun rolling out a series of rapid traffic improvements at eight key locations as part of a wider 2026 plan that includes more than 45 upgrades to the road network.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) says the move is aimed at easing congestion, improving traffic flow and boosting safety as the city continues to grow and vehicle numbers increase.
The works cover major routes including Emirates Road from Sharjah towards Wadi Al Amardi Street, Umm Amara Street linking Sheikh Zayed Road to Al Wasl Street, Jebel Ali–Lehbab Street, and the area around Al Jaddaf Metro Station.
Improvements are also under way on Al Na’ayat Street in Al Barsha 1, near Al Maktoum School in Al Satwa, at the intersection of Al Ittihad Street and Al Quds Street, and on Sheikh Rashid Street near Grand Hyatt Dubai towards Bur Dubai.
Once completed, the projects are expected to cut congestion and reduce journey times by between 15 and 30 per cent.
The upgrades include widening roads, converting roundabouts into signalised junctions, building new road links to improve access to residential and commercial areas, and adding parking spaces at schools and key facilities.
Officials say traffic performance is continuously monitored through data analysis, real-time tracking at control centres and on-site inspections, ensuring targeted solutions that reduce bottlenecks and improve peak-hour traffic flow across the emirate.
