Dubai is set to become one of the first cities in the world to implement digital verification of travellers' medical records related to COVID-19 testing and vaccination.
Emirates Airline and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement the project.
The two entities will work together to link the IT systems of DHA-approved laboratories with Emirates' reservations and check-in systems.
The move is aimed at ensuring the sharing, storage and verification of passenger health information related to COVID-19 infection, testing and vaccination, all in a secure and legally compliant manner.
Work on the project will start immediately so that travellers can benefit from it in the coming months.
The MoU was signed by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates' Chairman and Chief Executive, and Awadh Al Ketbi, Director General of Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
Dubai is a leading global air transport hub & one of the world’s most progressive cities in e-government services. It’s a natural step to combine the capabilities of @emirates and @DHA_Dubai to implement digital verification of COVID-19 medical records. 1/2 pic.twitter.com/aKWhIFmRoU

This will also enable contactless document verification at @DXB to improve the traveller experience. Dubai will continue to lead the way in implementing effective approaches to contagion control, while facilitating travel & air transport, crucial to communities & economies. 2/2
