The Dubai Civil Defence has launched the '1 Billion Readiness' initiative, the largest global programme focused on safety and fire hazard prevention.

Aimed at training and raising awareness among 1 billion people worldwide, the programme will run from 2025 to 2027.

Led by the UAE, this groundbreaking initiative brings together 34 countries and 18 major firefighting organizations, reinforcing the UAE’s leadership in global safety and security efforts.

A key aspect of the initiative is the Hope Convoys project, which will provide essential firefighting equipment and establish fire stations in developing countries to improve emergency response and preparedness.

The project also aims to strengthen international cooperation in safety.

Lieutenant General Expert Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, Director General of Dubai Civil Defence, highlighted that the initiative will promote fire prevention and safety awareness through global campaigns, supported by specialized digital platforms available in multiple languages.

Participants who complete the programme will receive electronic certificates from the Global Wildfire Monitoring Centre and the Dubai Civil Defence Readiness Programme.

On the local front, the initiative will roll out extensive awareness campaigns targeting individuals, government institutions, the private sector and schools, aiming to reach the broadest audience possible.
