EXPO 2020 Dubai nears 3 million in visitor numbers

WAM

Nearly three million visitors have attended EXPO 2020 Dubai, with over 100,000 being school students.

In the past week, Expo 2020 marked UAE Flag Day with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, leading the celebrations.

Dutch royalty King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima also visited the site to mark their Expo national day and hold an official opening ceremony of the Netherlands pavilion.

In light of the Indian festival of Diwali, a strong entertainment line-up, with acts by India’s Salim and Sulaiman Merchant, and Bollywood playback singer Vipul Mehta, and a special showcase from Indian rapper Badshah, added to the festive spirit.

Giro d’Italia Criterium was held for the first time ever outside Europe and at the EXPO 2020 site, marking the first-ever official sporting event to be staged at a World Expo.
