His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, has inaugurated the 11th Dubai International Project Management Forum at Madinat Jumeirah, held under the theme 'Bridging Communities'.
The opening took place in the presence of senior officials, public sector leaders and executives from major global companies.
During the ceremony, Sheikh Ahmed viewed a special mural titled 'A Century of Mobility in Dubai', tracing the emirate’s journey in developing roads and public transport over the past 100 years.
The artwork highlights key milestones, from the early foundations laid by the late Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum and the modernisation driven by the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, to Dubai’s transformation into a global city under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The mural also reflects Dubai’s future-focused mobility vision, including autonomous transport, air taxis and smart, sustainable solutions.
Sheikh Ahmed reviewed plans for the new Dubai Auto Market, being developed by DP World. Set to become the largest and most advanced facility of its kind globally, it will span 22 million square feet and include 1,500 showrooms, workshops, warehouses, a hotel, an auction house, retail areas, and capacity for 800,000 vehicles annually.
He was also briefed on Emaar’s upcoming iconic metro station, set to be the world’s highest. Standing 74 metres tall, the 'Gateway'-inspired station will serve around 160,000 passengers per day and form a striking new landmark in the city’s landscape.
The opening session of the forum featured world tennis legend and humanitarian Andre Agassi, who spoke about leadership, teamwork and the importance of education in driving sustainable community development.
Agassi shared how the principles of discipline, accountability and long-term planning shaped both his sporting career and his philanthropic work, urging project managers to design initiatives that deliver real and lasting impact for communities.
