His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has called out three Dubai officials for not prioritizing public access and a people-centric approach.
In a statement on the platform X, Sheikh Mohammed said these individuals placed barriers between themselves and the public under the excuse that government services are now digital.
"They have created large offices for themselves, stationed managers, secretaries and security guards at their doors, and restricted access to the public on the pretext that the government is now ‘smart’, relying on digital transactions and websites to address people's needs.
"I have instructed the secret shopper team to prepare a comprehensive report on all departments," added Sheikh Mohammed.
His Highness reiterated that Dubai’s global reputation and success is a direct result of its efficient services and open-door policy, and action will be taken against any official who strays from these values and principles.
At the same time, he praised officials who prioritize public access, citing the example of Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al Marri, Director General of Dubai's General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).
Sheikh Mohammed hailed Al Marri's constant presence among the public, warm reception of visitors and his thoughtful handling of humanitarian and exceptional cases.
