His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Friday unveiled a date factory to ensure malnourished children don't go hungry in "lesser fortunate communities".
In a post on social media, Sheikh Mohammed said the "world's largest date" factory is being built in collaboration with partners under Mohammed bin Rashid's initiative.
"The goal," His Highness added, "is to produce 150 million date-fortified food units annually, dedicated to children suffering from malnutrition and to combat hunger in less fortunate communities".
Sheikh Mohammed said "the UAE and the region" is surrounded by palm trees, and dates have fed "many communities" over the years. "And today, we strive to transform it into a high-value food product that contributes to fighting hunger around the world".
