His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain Region, has reviewed key cultural and tourism development plans for the area, including upgrades to existing heritage sites and new leisure projects planned for the coming years.
The discussions took place during a meeting with a delegation led by Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Hazza was briefed on strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening the culture and tourism sectors, with several major projects scheduled for implementation in 2026.
Officials highlighted the role of tourism and culture in supporting investment, sustainable development and job creation, while enhancing Al Ain’s appeal to visitors from within the UAE and overseas.
Sheikh Hazza also reviewed progress on existing projects, including the rehabilitation of Al Ain Museum, improvements to the visitor experience at Al Ain’s oases and UNESCO World Heritage sites, and plans to enhance family-oriented attractions such as Hili Fun City, Al Ain Zoo, Al Jimi Mall and Jebel Hafeet.
He said developing the tourism sector is a key pillar of Abu Dhabi’s long-term vision, noting its importance in improving quality of life and reinforcing the emirate’s position on the global tourism map.
DCT Abu Dhabi said its efforts are aligned with the Abu Dhabi Tourism Strategy 2030 and include preserving heritage, developing environmental assets and expanding leisure and entertainment offerings. The authority is also promoting the region through annual cultural events such as the Traditional Handicrafts Festival, Al Ain Book Festival and Mother of the Nation Festival.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Talal Al Dhiyebi and Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi.
