The UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received a written message from Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, delivered during talks between the two countries' Foreign Ministers in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
The message was handed to His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, by Mauritania’s Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug in a meeting which focused on bilateral relations, as well as wider regional developments.
Both sides also condemned recent Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting civilian sites and facilities in the UAE, describing them as a violation of international law and the UN Charter.
The two ministers said the attacks posed a threat to regional security and stability, and affirmed what they described as the UAE’s right to protect its sovereignty and national security.
The meeting also explored ways to strengthen cooperation between the UAE and Mauritania across a range of sectors.
Sheikh Abdullah said both countries shared a commitment to expanding ties in support of development and economic growth.
The meeting was attended by UAE Minister of State Khalifa bin Shaheen Al Marar and Sheikh Nahyan bin Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Deputy Minister of State.
