Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has begun using drone technology to inspect Dubai Metro tunnels, in partnership with metro operator Keolis MHI.
The RTA says the move marks a major advance in inspection practices, cutting inspection time by 60 per cent while improving safety and efficiency.
Drones are making it easier to access hard-to-reach tunnel areas, capture high-resolution images, and provide more accurate data for analysis and maintenance planning — reducing risk to staff and supporting future use of artificial intelligence.
The initiative aligns with the RTA’s 2024-2030 strategy, focusing on sustainability, innovation and service excellence.
It also supports the UAE’s National Innovation Strategy, aimed at strengthening the country’s position among the world’s most innovative nations through the adoption of advanced technologies across vital sectors.
Reflecting its commitment to enhancing operational safety and efficiency, #RTA has announced the deployment of drone technology to inspect Dubai Metro tunnels, in collaboration with the metro operator, Keolis MHI.
