The Roads and Transport Authority has opened two footbridges in Dubai.
One of them is located on Khalid Al Waleed Street in Bur Dubai near Ascot Hotel, and the other one is on Al Marabea Street in Al Quoz, serving mainly residents and workers.
Meanwhile, a third footbridge is being built over King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street at JBR.
Engineer Maitha bin Adai, CEO of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency said: “The bridge is so unique as it has stairs linking the four directions of the junction. It also boasts of an iconic design replicating the nature of buildings and the coastal line of the area. All stairs will be covered for the convenience of users and the bridge will be fitted with lifts in the four directions.”
As part of their plan to ensure pedestrian safety, RTA officials are encouraging the public to use the said footbridges and asking motorists to slow down at pedestrian crossings.
