Two people have been arrested in Sharjah for stealing prayer beads worth $10,000 within 24 hours of it being reported.
A Chinese national reported the theft after he advertised to sell the prayer beads, made of Amber, on social media.
According to the Sharjah Police, one suspect posed as a prospective buyer and convinced the victim to carry the collection to another location on the pretext of inspection.
At the location, two men deceived the seller, seized the goods and fled the scene.
After being alerted about the incident, Sharjah Police deployed a specialised team to gather information, examine evidence, and analyze data using advanced security technologies.
The suspects were identified and tracked to a neighbouring emirate.
Following a coordinated operation, the suspects were apprehended and all stolen items recovered.
The police urged the public to exercise caution when conducting sales or purchases with unknown individuals via social media platforms, to verify the identities of the other parties involved, and to choose safe, official locations for completing transactions.
