Sheikh Abdullah meets global counterparts at UN

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, has met with foreign ministers from a host of countries on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81) in New York.

Separate meetings were held with ministers from South Korea, Slovakia, Cyprus, Palau, Costa Rica, Kosovo, Canada, Peru, Chile, Bolivia and Portugal. 

Discussions focused on ways to advance cooperation across key sectors, including the economy, trade, investment, culture, AI and education, national news agency Wam reported on Tuesday. 

Sheikh Abdullah also looked into collaborations to enhance advanced technology, food security, renewable energy and climate action, while underscoring the UAE's commitment to fostering "productive partnerships" with countries around the world. 

The meetings also addressed the agenda of the UN General Assembly, specifically topics related to boosting multilateral action, achieving international peace and security, and consolidating international cooperation in addressing global challenges.

The ministers further reviewed the ongoing preparations for the 2026 UN Water Conference, set to be co-hosted by the UAE and Senegal from December 8-10.

The top UAE diplomat also discussed regional developments with US Senator Jeanne Shaheen, with both sides emphasising the strategic relationship between the two nations.
