Dubai government employees will once again benefit from flexible working arrangements this summer, as the 2026 edition of the 'Our Flexible Summer' initiative comes into effect from June 29 to September 10.
Launched by the Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR), the programme is designed to create more flexible, people-centred workplaces while maintaining the continuity and quality of government services.
Under the plan, staff will be divided into two working groups. One group will work seven hours a day from Monday to Thursday and four-and-a-half hours on Fridays, while the second group will work eight hours a day from Monday to Thursday, with Fridays off.
Government entities may also apply additional flexible hours and remote working options, depending on operational needs.
Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director General of DGHR, said the initiative reflects a focus on improving work-life balance, particularly during the summer months, allowing employees more time with their families while supporting overall wellbeing and productivity.
The programme is based on employee feedback and is part of ongoing efforts to build more flexible and future-ready government workplaces in Dubai.
