The UAE has won three more gold medals at JJIF Youth World Championship in Kazakhstan, with Zamzam Alhammadi, Rauda Alshamsi, and Alanood Alharbi each winning in the Under-18 competition.
The gold medals were the highlight of an impressive day for the UAE team, as it took home a total of 15 medals in the girls’ Under-16 and Under-18 divisions at the event in Astana.
The Under-16 team secured six medals, on its debut in the tournament, including one silver and five bronze. Haira Aldaheri (36 kg) won silver in her category, while Fatema Alkatheeri (44 kg), Ghala Alhammadi (44 kg), Najla Hashem (48 kg), Hneen Alkhoori (57 kg), and Aysha Aljneibi (63 kg) claimed bronze.
The performance of the Under-18 girls made history by achieving nine medals, consisting of three golds, two silvers, and four bronzes. Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Deputy Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and Head of the National Team’s delegation to Kazakhstan said, “The performance of the girls Under-18 and Under-16 was amazing. This shows how much our athletes have improved and it’s something the whole world can see. The UAE has come a long way in the sport of jiu-jitsu."
The Uzbekistan Jiu-Jitsu Federation presented an honorary shield to the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, which was received by Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, in recognition of the significant role of the UAE and the capital, Abu Dhabi, in promoting jiu-jitsu, expanding its reach, and contributing to its continuous development in the region and the world.
The UAE has now clinched 23 medals in total so far at the championships.
