The UAE will continue to play a major role in supporting victims of disasters and conflicts around the world.
That's the message from His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), ahead of World Humanitarian Day tomorrow (August 19).
In a statement to mark the occasion, he reiterated the UAE's commitment to ease the suffering of unprivileged communities, under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the country's efforts to limit the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic globally by sending medical aid to several nations.
He also paid tribute to all the humanitarian staff and volunteers who lost their lives, while trying to save the lives of others.
"The world must make the best out of World Humanitarian Day by exerting all efforts, exchanging ideas and coordinating programmes and operations to save the lives of millions of people who are in danger," Sheikh Hamdan added.
