Under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE has allocated $8 million to support Chad in addressing the humanitarian impact of the El Nino climate phenomenon.
The funding, provided through the UAE Aid Agency, is aimed at strengthening food security and supporting communities facing increased risks of hunger and malnutrition as extreme weather conditions continue to affect livelihoods and agricultural production.
Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, said climate-related challenges such as rising temperatures, changing rainfall patterns and water scarcity are worsening humanitarian crises and putting additional pressure on food supplies.
He added that the UAE's support will focus on helping the most vulnerable communities in Chad while improving their ability to withstand future climate-related shocks.
The initiative forms part of the UAE's broader humanitarian efforts to combat hunger, strengthen food security and support communities affected by crises and disasters around the world.
