The UAE has announced an emergency humanitarian response worth $30 million to support civilians affected by the worsening situation in El Obeid in Sudan's North Kordofan region.
The assistance has been directed by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and will be delivered through the UAE Aid Agency to help meet urgent needs including food, healthcare, clean drinking water and shelter.
The aid comes as humanitarian conditions continue to deteriorate in El Obeid and surrounding areas, where civilians and displaced people are facing growing hardship.
The UAE has called for an immediate and coordinated international response to ensure life-saving assistance reaches those most in need, while stressing that protecting civilians must remain a top priority.
The country also urged all parties to the conflict to comply with international humanitarian law, avoid further escalation in populated areas and allow the safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid.
Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State and Member of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, said the emergency response reflects the UAE's commitment to supporting the Sudanese people and protecting vulnerable groups, including children, women, the elderly and the sick.
He added that the UAE will continue working with humanitarian organisations and international partners to help ease civilian suffering and strengthen relief efforts.
The UAE has now provided around $800 million in humanitarian assistance to Sudan since the conflict began, supporting refugees, displaced people and communities affected by the fighting.
The latest funding will be delivered in cooperation with the United Nations and its partners as part of wider international humanitarian response efforts.
