The first day of Eid Al Fitr will be marked in the UAE on Friday, March 20.
The announcement came after the UAE's Moon-sighting Committee did not sight the crescent moon on Wednesday evening.
The sighting of the Shawwal crescent officially signals the end of Ramadan and the start of Eid Al Fitr. Earlier, the UAE announced Eid Al Fitr holidays for the public and private sectors.
According to the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR), Eid holidays for the UAE public sector will be from Thursday, March 19, until Sunday, March 22, with work resuming on Monday, March 23.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation said private sector will begin its Eid break from Thursday, March 19, until Saturday, March 21. The ministry clarified that if the holy month of Ramadan lasts for 30 days, then the holiday will extend to Sunday, March 22, for the private sector.
