The UAE has announced gradual return to in-person learning for some nurseries starting this week, with a decision on learning modules for schools and higher education institutions to be issued on Wednesday via Ministry of Education's official channels.
Making the announcement, the Education, Human Resources, and Community Development Council said the decision to switch to a phased return to in-person learning is made to support the continuity of the education system while ensuring the safety of students and staff.
Its approach is based on careful assessment, deliberate planning, and placing the safety and reassurance of the community.
The authority said it has launched a comprehensive programme to prepare and train staff across nurseries, schools and higher education institutions. It will include safety protocols, evacuation plans and psychological support for staff to respond to various emergency situations.
Additionally, teams from ministries and local education authorities will conduct field evaluation visits to verify readiness and submit updated assessment reports.
It added that nurseries located in government premises and commercial buildings will reopen first, while others will provide home-based childcare services in accordance with approved regulations.
Meanwhile, updates regarding the resumption of in-person or remote learning across educational institutions will be announced on April 15.
The authority added that clear guidance is also being developed to ensure public and private institutions are unified in their approach and are able to easily transition between learning modes to adapt to evolving developments.
