The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) says joint inspection campaigns with Dubai Police in the first half of 2026 led to the seizure of more than 3.5 million non-compliant packages of excise goods.
A total of 59 seizure reports were issued against businesses and individuals, with tax dues and penalties linked to the confiscated products amounting to more than AED 82 million.
The campaigns are part of ongoing efforts by the FTA and Dubai Police to combat tax evasion and strengthen compliance with UAE tax laws.
The two sides say they will continue joint inspections and monitoring to detect excise goods on which tax has not been paid, while using technology and sharing expertise to improve enforcement.
The FTA also highlighted its Raqeeb platform, which allows members of the public to report suspected tax evasion and support efforts to protect the market and public funds.
In the UAE, excise tax applies to certain goods considered harmful to health or the environment, including tobacco products, energy drinks and sweetened beverages.
