The UAE has successfully brokered a new exchange of captives between Russia and Ukraine, with 190 individuals released.
This brings the total number of prisoners exchanged through UAE mediation efforts to 2,184 since the initiative began.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to both countries for their cooperation, which enabled the successful exchange despite the ongoing conflict.
The Ministry also highlighted that this marks the ninth successful mediation since the start of 2024, underscoring the strong and friendly relations between the UAE and both nations.
It reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to ongoing efforts for a peaceful resolution to the conflict, emphasizing the need for dialogue and de-escalation.
Since the beginning of the year, the UAE has facilitated eight exchanges of war captives between Russia and Ukraine, as well as a prisoner swap between the US and Russia in December 2022
