The UAE is calling for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire to end the civil war in Sudan.
Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, said General Burhan has once again rejected peace efforts, including the US peace plan, describing his continued refusal to accept a ceasefire as “obstructive” and saying the Sudanese people are paying the heaviest price.
She noted that the UN now describes the crisis as one of the worst humanitarian tragedies in modern history, with aid access being weaponised and civilians deliberately starved.
The UAE expressed deep concern over the actions of both warring parties, whose ongoing escalation and refusal to allow humanitarian access are pushing Sudan closer to collapse.
Al Hashimy welcomed US engagement aimed at preventing Sudan from sliding further into extremism and humanitarian catastrophe, stressing that a unified regional and international effort is essential to ending atrocities and restoring a path to a peaceful and unified Sudan.
