The UAE has voiced its strong support for Egypt in addressing recent Israeli claims and allegations regarding the Philadelphi Corridor, a narrow strip of land along Gaza’s border with Egypt.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the offensive Israeli statements, which it believes threaten regional stability and could worsen the current situation.
It also praised the mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar and the United States aimed at achieving a ceasefire and securing the release of hostages.
The UAE hopes these efforts will lead to an end to the conflict, alleviate Palestinian suffering, and bolster regional stability towards lasting peace.
The Ministry has urged Israeli authorities to de-escalate tensions and avoid actions that could further destabilize the region.
The UAE also emphasised the need to support all regional and international efforts to advance the Middle East peace process, end illegal practices that undermine the two-state solution, and work towards the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
A key sticking point in recent Gaza ceasefire talks has been Israel's insistence on maintaining a presence in the Philadelphi Corridor.
