As the UAE celebrated the 53rd anniversary of Eid Al Etihad on December 2nd, the nation reflected on its long-standing contributions to global humanitarian initiatives.
Since its founding in 1971, the UAE has allocated over AED 360 billion (US$98 billion) in foreign aid, significantly impacting countries and communities facing poverty, disaster, and conflict.

Erth Zayed Philanthropies: Launched by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the AED 20 billion philanthropic initiative seeks to provide impactful assistance to communities worldwide, fostering sustainable development, security, and stability.
Mothers' Endowment Campaign: In a heartfelt initiative led by Vice President and Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE established a AED 1 billion endowment fund to support education globally, honoring mothers for their vital role as children's first educators. This campaign, launched during Ramadan, aims to sustain the education of millions worldwide.
Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty: Under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, the UAE committed US$100 million to combat hunger and poverty, reaffirming its pledge to sustainable development, peace, and prosperity.

Gaza: President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan authorized the provision of medical treatment for 1,000 injured children and 1,000 cancer patients from Gaza. Additionally, the UAE Ministry of Defence launched the “Birds of Goodness” operation to deliver essential humanitarian aid to Gaza. The UAE’s unwavering support also included an urgent US$100 million relief package for Lebanon amid ongoing regional tensions.
Lebanon: The UAE continued its “UAE stands with Lebanon” campaign, delivering 40 tonnes of medical supplies in its 18th aircraft mission and dispatching an aid ship with 2,000 tonnes of critical relief. An additional US$30 million in support was sent to displaced Lebanese citizens in Syria.
Sudan: The UAE pledged US$100 million in humanitarian aid to Sudan and its neighboring countries and launched projects worth US$10.25 million for women affected by conflict in Sudan. Furthermore, the UAE contributed US$50 million to the second phase of the Lives and Livelihoods Fund (LLF 2.0), which helps lift millions out of poverty in IsDB member countries.
