UAE joins call to end settler violence in occupied West Bank

The foreign ministers of the UAE, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have strongly condemned the recent escalation of settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

In a joint statement, the ministers highlighted recent attacks on the Grand Mosque in the village of Jiljilya and Al-Farouq Mosque in the village of Mazar’a al-Nubani, north of Ramallah, saying such actions violate the sanctity of religious sites as well as international law and United Nations resolutions.

They also condemned ongoing Israeli measures in the occupied Palestinian territories, warning that they fuel instability, violence and extremism, while undermining efforts to achieve peace.

The ministers called on the international community to take action to halt the escalation, end settler violence, and ensure those responsible are held accountable.

They reaffirmed their support for the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The ministers also reiterated their backing for a two-state solution as the path toward a just, lasting and comprehensive peace.
