The UAE's Family Development Foundation has launched a national charter that reinforces the role of Emirati women as a "giver and achiever".
The charter was launched under the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the “Mother of the Nation”.
Named "Following in the Footsteps of the Mother of the Nation", the charter draws inspiration from the vision of Sheikha Fatima and was created on the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day.
It comprises eight national commitments forming the journey of Emirati women, including embracing national identity and authentic Emirati values as firmly rooted principles guiding thought.
The charter also involves behaviour and practice, striving for excellence in education, work and innovation, and contributing effectively to the nation’s comprehensive development journey alongside strengthening the UAE’s global competitiveness.
It also affirms the belief that a cohesive family is the foundation of society, and promotes the values of family stability, while encouraging a balanced approach between professional aspirations and societal responsibilities.
Other commitments include focusing on strengthening intergenerational bonds, drawing on the experience and wisdom of senior citizens, and recognising their contributions to the nation’s development.
