UAE President congratulates Qatar on National Day

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan congratulated Qatar on their National Day on Wednesday, and highlighted the strong bonds the two countries share in promoting development and prosperity for their populations.

The countries share solid relations supported by historical ties and culture heritage.

"On the occasion of Qatar National Day, I extend my sincere congratulations to my brother @TamimBinHamad and the Qatari people. United by longstanding ties of friendship, our two nations will continue to strengthen our bonds to promote the development, wellbeing and prosperity of our peoples and those throughout the region," the President said on social media platform X. 

Well-wishes from other UAE officials also poured in.

"We share the joy of the beloved State of Qatar on the anniversary of their National Day...wishing them continued glory and pride, and that Qatar, under its wise leadership, will continue its journey full of successes and achievements," His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said. 

They have also expressed willingness to expand their partnerships across various fields.

The UAE accounts for 52 per cent of Qatar’s trade in the Gulf, recording an 18.3 per cent growth that reached AED 37 billion in 2023 compared to 2022, while trade reached AED 21 billion during the first half of this year 2024.

The number of UAE commercial licenses in Qatar increased by 11 per cent during 2023 compared to 2022, reaching 248 licenses.

There are more than 100 weekly flights between the UAE and Qatar, indicating that the tourism sector between the two countries is witnessing growth, and is pushing towards enhancing the provision of services and financing as one of the strategic sectors
