The UAE has dispatched an urgent relief aircraft to Botswana, carrying 96 tonnes of medical supplies in response to a public health emergency declared in the African country.
The shipment includes medicines for chronic illnesses, surgical equipment and essential items like bandages and sutures — aimed at addressing severe shortages across Botswana’s healthcare system.
The aid is part of the UAE’s broader humanitarian efforts to support early recovery and health system stability in crisis-affected countries.
Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, said the initiative reflects the UAE’s commitment to responding swiftly to global health emergencies.
He added that the medical supplies will directly benefit vulnerable groups, including children, women and the elderly, many of whom depend on the public health sector for essential care.
