The UAE and Serbia have discussed expanding cooperation in food security, agriculture and sustainable development during an official visit to Belgrade by UAE Climate Change and Environment Minister Dr Amna Al Dahak.
Dr Al Dahak met Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić during the visit, with discussions focusing on strengthening cooperation under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed between the two countries.
The talks centred on building more resilient food supply systems, expanding agricultural investment and increasing collaboration in areas including livestock production, water management and climate-smart farming technologies.
The UAE delegation included senior government officials and representatives from major Emirati food and agriculture companies including Silal, Elite Agro Holding and Agthia Group.
According to the UAE, Emirati investments in Serbia now cover more than 600,000 hectares of farmland through projects led by companies including Al Dahra and Al Rawafed.
Silal also said field trials involving Serbian barley varieties grown in the UAE had shown positive results, opening opportunities for future seed and agricultural cooperation.
During the visit, Dr Al Dahak also met Serbia’s agriculture minister and business leaders to discuss trade partnerships, logistics and agricultural technology.
She attended the Serbia Business Summit 2026 and the International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad, where more than 1,200 exhibitors showcased agricultural technologies and food production systems.
The visit also included tours of agricultural research and production centres focused on seed development, sustainable farming and agribusiness innovation.
