UAE steps up Agentic AI drive for next phase of government transformation

The UAE is stepping up efforts to embed Agentic AI across government operations, as officials gathered in Dubai to map out the next stage of the country's digital transformation.

Speaking at an Agentic AI workshop organised by the Presidential Court and the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, said the UAE is entering a new phase of government development, using advanced AI to help design public services, policies and procedures.

The workshop brought together 600 employees from both entities and focused on new operating models aimed at improving efficiency, enhancing service quality, accelerating delivery and strengthening decision-making.

Al Gergawi said the government's goal of converting 50 per cent of federal operations, procedures and services to Agentic AI models within two years represents a major shift in how government works.

He stressed that AI is intended to enhance human capabilities and create new opportunities for innovation, rather than replace people.

He also announced the launch of the 'Top 3 AI Agents Award' within the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs to encourage the development of AI solutions that deliver measurable impact across government functions.

Officials also outlined plans to convert 75 per cent of the ministry's own operations and specialised services to Agentic AI, with a focus on speeding up processes, improving output quality and supporting evidence-based decision-making.

Meanwhile, Shamsa Al Falasi, Executive Director of Transformation and Development at the Presidential Court, highlighted ongoing efforts to build national AI capabilities, including secure AI platforms, specialised training programmes and sovereign AI infrastructure.

She also conveyed directives from His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan to accelerate the adoption of Agentic AI, including a target to convert 75 per cent of Presidential Court services to AI-powered models within the next two years.

A panel featuring senior government officials discussed practical applications of AI in Cabinet operations, strategic planning and legislation, while Minister of State for Government Development and the Future Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi reaffirmed plans to train 80,000 federal government employees in Agentic AI technologies.

The workshop concluded with seven specialised sessions delivered in partnership with leading global technology companies and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, aimed at accelerating the adoption of Agentic AI across the UAE government.
