The United Arab Emirates, on Saturday, expressed its condemnation and denunciation of the riots, attempted vandalism, and attacks targeting its embassy and the residence of its Head of Mission in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasised the UAE's categorical rejection of such acts of sabotage, stressing the necessity of protecting diplomatic premises, missions, and their personnel in accordance with international laws and norms, particularly the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantees full inviolability to diplomatic premises and their staff.
The Ministry also reiterated its rejection and condemnation of unacceptable insults against its national symbols.
The UAE called upon Syria to fulfill its obligations in securing the embassy and its staff, to investigate the circumstances of the attacks, to ensure they do not recur, and to take all necessary legal measures to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
In a post on social media platform X, Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE president, emphasised that the attacks constitute a violation of international law, further stating that it "reflects a flaw in the security environment of the countries where these attacks occur".
الاعتداء على السفارات والبعثات الدبلوماسية ليس فقط انتهاكًا صارخًا للقانون الدولي، بل يعكس خللًا في البيئة الأمنية للدول التي تقع فيها هذه الاعتداءات.
