The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned Omar Abdulmajid Hamid Al Obaidi, Chargé d’Affaires at the Iraqi Embassy in the UAE, delivering a strongly worded note of protest over unprovoked attacks launched from Iraqi territory.
The ministry condemned the incidents and rejected what it says are repeated attacks carried out by armed groups and militias affiliated with Iran, despite a declared ceasefire.
The attacks have targeted critical facilities across Gulf Cooperation Council countries, violating sovereignty, airspace and international law.
The note, delivered by Ahmed Juma Al Marashda, Director of the Arab Affairs Department, emphasised that such actions threaten regional stability and undermine international efforts to strengthen security.
It also cautioned that the continued attacks could impact relations with Iraq, affecting cooperation and long-standing ties with Gulf nations.
The UAE called on the Iraqi government to take immediate and decisive action to prevent any attacks originating from its territory, stressing the need for full compliance with international obligations.
The statement also referenced UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which calls for an immediate halt to provocations and the use of proxy groups against neighbouring countries.
The UAE further emphasised the importance of Iraq fulfilling its role in reinforcing regional security and stability, while safeguarding its sovereignty and strengthening its position as a responsible regional partner.
