Work permits and residence visas will be renewed automatically in the UAE as part of efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19.
In a statement posted on the national news agency WAM, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) and the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC) said labourers employed by companies and support staff such as domestic workers will be exempt from taking the medical exams.
The relevant fees must be paid through an authorised channel for the renewal.
FAIC emphasised the need for employers to inform the relevant health authorities of any worker suspected of being infected with COVID-19.
