Dubai Police are warning motorists about the dangers of driving against the flow of traffic after a motorcyclist was seriously injured in an accident in the Majan area.
The crash happened on an internal road when the biker was riding against the direction of traffic and collided with a vehicle.
Authorities says driving the wrong way significantly increases the risk of head-on collisions, puts both motorists and pedestrians in danger, and can cause major traffic disruption, property damage and loss of life.
The offence carries a fine of AED 600, four black points and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. An additional AED 500 fine may also be issued for obstructing traffic.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic, urged all road users to stay in the correct lanes and follow traffic regulations to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
He added that Dubai Police will continue its awareness campaigns and take firm legal action against violators as part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety and protect the community.
