Angel Di Maria scored a double as Paris Saint-Germain crushed Real Madrid 3-0 in their Champions League opener on Wednesday.

There was no Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Edinson Cavani or Sergio Ramos in the clash between the two European heavyweights in Paris.

Madrid had a Gareth Bale goal disallowed for handball after a VAR review, while Eden Hazard struggled to make an impact on his first start since moving from Chelsea.

Elsewhere, Atletico Madrid struck two late goals to pull off a 2-2 draw with Juventus.

Juan Cuadrado (48’) and Blaise Matuidi (65’) gave Juve the lead in the second-half, but the hosts hit back through Stefan Savic (70’) and a 90th-minute equaliser from Hector Herrera, who headed home Kieran Trippier’s corner.

In other games, Manchester City got a 3-0 victory in Ukraine against Shakhtar Donetsk, while Tottenham let a two-goal lead slip in their 2-2 draw against Greek side Olympiakos.

Bayern Munich thrashed Red Star Belgrade 3-0, but it was a poor debut for Italian side Atalanta who suffered a 4-0 defeat at Dinamo Zagreb.

In other games, Lokomotiv Moscow edged Bayer Leverkusen 2-1, while Club Brugge and Galatasaray played out a goalless draw.
