FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi will be out of action for seven to eight weeks after tearing a ligament in his left knee. The injury occurred early on during the La Liga champions' match against Las Palmas. FCB won 2-1 with two goals by Luis Suarez. Messi, 28, was injured in the third minute of the match, and attempted to play on. However, it was quickly apparent he wouldn’t be able to continue the game, and was taken to hospital after being replaced. The club says he may miss up to eight fixtures. However, he could return in time to face Real Madrid for El Clasico on November 22. "I'm always sad when one of my players gets injured and even more when it's Messi,” said coach Luis Enrique after the match. "We will not change our style of play without Messi, although there are many moments in games in which Messi liberates us and finds solutions for us, so we'll have to strengthen in other areas and the team will have to step up without him." In other La Liga news, there was also an upset for Real Madrid as they drew 0-0 with Malaga at the Bernabeu, pushing them to third place on the league table.Star player Cristiano Ronaldo failed to score for the third successive match, leaving him visibly frustrated. Villarreal climbed above both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid teams with a 1-0 home win against 2014 champions Atletico Madrid. They now have 16 points, while FCB and Madrid have 15 and 14, respectively.
