Netherlands score World Cup upset over South Africa

The Netherlands defeated South Africa by 38 runs to register their first win of the 2023 World Cup.

The Dutch side posted a fighting total of 245-8 and then dismissed their opponents for 207 with one ball to spare.

The match, which was played in Dharamsala, was reduced to 43 overs a side due to rain.

Scott Edwards smashed a captain's knock of 78 not out to rescue the Netherlands, who were reeling at 82-5 in the 21st over but went on to post a decent total.

South Africa suffered a collapse of their own when they began their chase. David Miller made a brisk 43 and his dismissal in the 31st over effectively snuffed out his team's slim hopes of avoiding an upset.
