Kieran Gibbs was the unlikely hero for Arsenal, after salvaging a draw for the Gunners in the North London derby. Harry Kane gave Spurs a deserved lead at the Emirates Stadium, slotting past Petr Cech on the half-hour mark. The visitors dominated large portions of the game, but paid the price for failing to capitalise on that dominance, when Gibbs met a deep cross from Mesut Ozil and bundled the ball past Hugo Lloris. The result means Man City remain top, despite being held to a goalless draw at bottom-of-the-table Aston Villa, in Remi Garde’s first game in charge at Villa Park.Meanwhile, Crystal Palace continued their good form against Liverpool with a 2-1 win at Anfield. Yannick Bolasie capitalised on indecisive defending from the Reds, finishing on the turn after 20 minutes. Philippe Coutinho then levelled matters just before half-time, curling in after Adam Lallana dummied Nathaniel Clyne’s cross. However, Eagles centre-back Scott Dann took advantage of more poor defending from Jurgen Klopp’s men, firing home after Simon Mignolet parried his header back to him.
