Premier League: Spurs narrow gap at the top

Tottenham Hotspur closed to within two points of Premier League leaders, Leicester, with a 2-0 win at Aston Villa. Harry Kane opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time, latching on to Dele Alli’s quick free-kick before firing past Villain ‘keeper Brad Guzan. The England striker got another minutes into the second half, converting Alli’s low cross. The result takes Spurs six points clear of Arsenal in second, although Leicester could reassert their five point lead at the top with victory over Newcastle tonight. Meanwhile, the defeat leaves Aston Villa nine points from safety with eight games remaining.
