Rory McIlroy's war of words with Danny Willett over Dubai appearance

World No3 Rory McIlroy has hit back at claims he shouldn't be playing at this weekend’s DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. The 2012 champion has been given a special exemption to compete after an ankle injury meant he failed to play the prerequisite 13 tournaments on this year’s European Tour. Some players are aggrieved at his inclusion, including Danny Willett, who is second behind the Northern Irishman in The Race to Dubai rankings. but McIlroy is unrepentant. McIlroy is unrepentant though and points to the fact he is still top of the Race to Dubai rankings despite having played in less than half the events of some of his competitors.
