Capcom, the renowned video game developer, announced that Street Fighter 6 has attracted over a million players within the first three days since its release.

The news was shared through a post on the official Japanese Street Fighter Twitter account, which proudly stated, "Street Fighter 6 has surpassed 1 million players."

To celebrate this significant milestone, Capcom has added a free in-game gift for players, reportedly a profile title. The tweet also revealed that the entire Street Fighter series has now achieved a remarkable sales figure of over 50 million copies.

Although player count and game sales are not directly correlated, this milestone is promising for the future success of Street Fighter 6. Comparatively, Street Fighter V took three months to sell 1.4 million copies, while Street Fighter IV achieved over 3 million copies sold in just six weeks.

Capcom's president expressed the company's ambitious goal of selling 10 million copies of Street Fighter 6 throughout its lifetime. In an interview with Famitsu, Haruhiro Tsujimoto emphasized the company's intention to broaden the game's appeal beyond hardcore fighting game fans and make it the best-selling title in the series. Tsujimoto pointed to the success of other Capcom franchises, such as Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, which have reached impressive sales milestones.

Tsujimoto stated, "Over the past few years, multiple titles in the Resident Evil series have sold 10 million copies, and the Monster Hunter series now has titles that are aiming for 20 million copies. Street Fighter V has already sold over 7 million copies, so if we can make use of our digital sales experience, we should be able to aim for 10 million copies with the next game. That's why we're trying to do everything we couldn't do before with Street Fighter 6 – that's why we're where we are today."

Critics have lauded Street Fighter 6, evident from its favourable reviews and high scores on platforms such as Metacritic, where it currently holds an impressive rating ranging from 89 to 92, depending on the format. VGC's Street Fighter 6 review described the game as an "incredible fighter dripping with confidence" and praised Capcom for delivering a feature-rich, stylish, and enjoyable entry in the franchise.
