Bayern Munich have fired their coach Julian Nagelsmann, Bild newspaper reported on Thursday.
The 35-year-old was in charge when Bayern lost 2-1 at Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Sunday and Borussia Dortmund moved top of the Bundesliga.
Nagelsmann took charge in 2021 and led Bayern to their 10th German title in a row last season.
They play Manchester City next month in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Thomas Tuchel is the favourite to land the job and has been without a job since his dismissal from Chelsea in September last year. He has reportedly reached an agreement with Bayern and is set to be appointed soon.
Tuchel, who previously coached at Dortmund and Mainz, is expected to make a comeback in Germany, which rules out any possibility of him taking up the managerial role at Tottenham, a position he was linked with in recent weeks.
