Abu Dhabi issues new guidelines for reopening cultural sites

New guidelines have been issued for the reopening of some tourist attractions in the capital.

Abu Dhabi's Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) clarified that museums and cultural sites must not exceed 40 per cent of their overall capacity in order to resume operations. 

However, the authority clarified that workshops, programmes and tours will remain suspended until further notice. 

The DCT also revealed that it is mandatory for both employees and visitors to be wearing masks and gloves at all times. 

Meanwhile, staff members must ensure that regular sterilisation procedures are carried out at the facilities. 

Inspectors from the tourism entity will approve the reopening of facilities once they have verified compliance with the instructions.

The full list of guidelines include: 

• Sanitisers and thermal detection devices must be installed at entrances
• Glass partitions should be installed where possible 
• Daily and periodical temperature checks must be conducted for all employees 
• All touch screens must be removed from facilities 
• Digital guides should be used instead of printed material 
• Visitors to be allowed access to the facilities for a maximum of 3 hours 
• Red sign containing the maximum capacity to be clearly displayed at the entrance
• Clear social distancing markings to be placed on floors across the facility 
• Mandatory for all staff and visitors to wear masks and gloves
• Employees must get tested for COVID-19 before the rejoining work
• Mandatory isolation room to be allocated for suspected cases of COVID-19
• Activities of any kind strictly prohibited in facilities 
• All workshops, programmes, classes and tours to remain suspended
