Combatting COVID-19: Dubai launches home tests for elderly

Dubai Media Office

Dubai has launched a free mobile COVID-19 testing service that will screen the elderly and people of determination at their homes.

Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services’ ‘Mobile Laboratory Unit’ (MLU) are repurposed ambulances fitted with an auto-sterilisation unit, thermal scanners, and safe storage cabins for collected samples.

It’ll play a key role in reducing pressure on hospitals amidst the COVID-19 crisis and help protect people at high risk.

Khalifa bin Dray, Executive Director of Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, added that they also integrate the results into a national statistics pool that allow entities to track those who've been in contact with active cases.

It’s part of efforts by the Dubai government to boost COVID-19 screening in the emirate.
